You probably know you need an internet marketing plan. But where do you start?
Online marketing can be a frustrating mess. There are countless ways to market on the internet, and loads of “advice” on which methods are the best (and some really bad marketing decisions). The thing is, every method probably works for someone. And even if you choose the right method you can still fail to say the right things to the right people.
But, on the other hand, the internet has opened up the world to your marketing efforts. That is an incredible opportunity for your business. There is no doubt that some form of online marketing is a must for every small business. And yet, a recent CNBC survey showed that nearly half of small businesses don’t even have a website.
So, how do you formulate an online marketing plan? How about 3 simple steps:
- Define Your Market – make sure you are clear about the kind of customer that you want to target, and that is best for your business.
- Clarify Your Message – make sure potential customers know what you are about, and what you can do for them.
- Choose Your Methods – use internet marketing avenues that work for you and your audience.
Now, these steps are simple in concept, but they will take some work. Any real success in business always does. But with a clear plan and eyes on the goal it’s easy to keep on track and make good internet marketing decisions. Check out the three articles linked above to take a look at these steps in more detail. Grab a friend to follow along with you, and to bounce ideas off of. And keep building your brand!
